Can someone explain to me the 21.5 Lap race for the Sport Compact. I completely understand moving us to Friday nite, with a smaller car count this year that makes sense. But why has the race been cut to 21.5 laps? We've run well enough, competitively enough, without cautions that it would most likely take another 10-15 minutes to make it a 43 lap race.

If there is no "give" to the shortened distance, can we not make it a .5 lap finish. I'm not quite sure what you have in mind, but there has been many times this year that we need the "stripe" on the front straight to really determine who finished in each position. I'd rather see it be a whole number and avoid any confusion that this has the potential to cause.

It'll be harder to get any more Sport Compacts there for this weekend if our feature is basically the same as it is any other week. We need a longer race to get some others back at AIS and hopefully get our car count up for the remainder of the season. The 43 lapper is a great draw to at least get them to the track for the first time this season.

Nate:
The race will go green on the backstretch.
With 5-6 cars Paul didn't feel it was necessary to run 43 laps because of the low car count.

He cut it in half, and it will be 21.5 laps.

I have heard that if we can get 9 or more sport compacts there on Friday that Paul had indicated that we would be abe to go the 43 laps.

Is this correct?

If it is correct, I wanted to get this info out on the AIS website somewhere to let some of the guys know that if we can get a decent turnout that we will be able to run the longer distance. I know there are some that have said that they may not come if it is just 20 laps, basically like a normal race weekend.

I'm not trying to "stir the pot" here, I just wanted to get this info out if it is correct. If it is not please correct me here. (Billy/ Paul).

Thanks again,

Nate

If you heard it from Paul then I suppose that is true.

Bringing 2 cars for sure #1 Scirocco and the #7 RX7 working hard maybe on an all nighter for another Scirocco but don't hold your breath on that one. Have all the stuff but no lease on time. We've had 8 when we showed up so lets get on the #08 car and get those guys over there for the night, they ran at Oswego last fall so it should be together. Chuck runs Brewerton on Friday's so he's a no go. We could have 10 cars easy and 12- 14 with some phone calls.

The drivers could secretly agree to keep going until we get to lap 43 or they pull the fire trucks out in front of us! Razz

Paul said it and it is TRUE!

43 laps takes less than 15 minutes, for us any ways. Hah
